Introduction

This privacy notice by Brigg Scientific Recruitment Limited, also known as Brigg Scientific is to provide you with information regarding how we store and handle your personal data.

All of the Personal Data we collect is stored on our secure Cloud based data system and is only accessed and processed by those with authority to do so.

We collect data in two stages:

The first stage is when Brigg Scientific first make contact with you via a job board, an application you have made, a record on social media or perhaps a referral from another candidate.

The second stage is when we register you for employment as a temporary worker.


What personal information do we collect?

Application stage:

Name

Address

Email Address

Contact phone numbers: mobile and land-line.

CV based information: education, work history, hobbies and interests information.

Employment preferences: including geographical regions of interest and salary requirements.

We also hold the “confirmation of consent” you have provided to us to store your data.

The legal basis we use for storing this information is your “consent” via a form on our website.

Employment stage:

When we employ you as a temporary worker, we require additional information. This information is taken at a face to face meeting.

Bank account details so we can pay you.

NI number for running your payroll.

Date of birth for legal reasons to calculate age related pay benefits like minimum wage or pension rights,

Passport and/or birth certificate information to prove your legal right to work in the UK.

We call this “Data for Employment”

We will also record information from conversations regarding a contract placement, pay rates, start and end dates, pension info and any other information related to the employment of an individual.

The legal basis for collecting this information is also provided by your consent via a form you fill out during the face to face meeting.

What do we use/process?

Application stage:

We use and process name, email address, contact phone numbers and CV based information such as that is listed above.

We use this data to select roles that might be appropriate for you and to contact you to inform you of vacancies that match your skill sets.

The legal basis for using this information is again via your “consent form”

Employment stage

Your data for employment is used to register you with HMRC, pay you effectively and to ensure that we comply with our legal obligations to ensure all of our employees have legal “right to work in the UK”.

The basis for using and processing this data is firstly via your “consent”, but also:

To fulfil a contract we have with you.  Eg pay you.

When it's our legal duty to ensure you can legally work in the UK.

Who do we share YOUR DATA with?

Application data

Once you have registered with us, your data is entered onto our database which is operated by a company called Remedy; they will have access to your data.

Remedy have a very strict data protection and privacy policy and would be in breach of contract if they were to share your data outside of the Remedy/Brigg Scientific contract, so it’s safe with them.

We share some of your information with our clients regarding specific job vacancies, anticipated skill requirements or skills based matches between your CV and a company’s business activities in the provision of work finding services.

The only data we share is CV based information regarding work and educational history, and hobbies etc.  We do not share addresses, phone numbers or email addresses.

Your data is only shared with our clients in the scientific community with a view to providing you with employment opportunities.

We will not share your information with any other type pf company for marketing or sales purposes.   

Employment Data

Once you are employed by us on a temporary contract we need to share your data with the following organisations:

HMRC for the payment of taxes and National Insurance

Calverton Finance who run our payroll service

How do we use your data?

Data protection law states that we can only use personal data if we have a right and proper reason to do so. This includes sharing it outside of Brigg Scientific. The law states we must have one or more of these reasons:

  • To fulfil a contract we have with you

  • When it's our legal duty

  • When it's in our legitimate interest

  • When you consent to it.

We only use your data in the process of offering job seeking services.

Brigg Scientific uses your data to keep in regular contact regarding vacancies and job opportunities; this can be via email, phone or post.

We use your data to make introductions to potential clients.

We use your data for the purposes of running an efficient payroll.

The basis of these uses is via your consent and our legal duty.

What happens if you choose not to give us your personal data?

We may need to collect personal data by law, or under the terms of a contract we have with you, or simply to offer the services you have requested.


If you choose not to provide your personal data, it may delay or prevent us providing our specialist services to you. For example, not providing an email address would prevent us from providing you with vacancy information or sending you relevant forms for employment.

For instance not providing your National Insurance Number after a temporary job offer would prevent us from paying you.

How long do we keep your personal data?

We will keep your personal data for as long as you are in contact with Brigg Scientific.

Those not in contact with Brigg Scientific:

If you were employed by us, then we have a legal obligation to keep your data for 7 years.

If you were not employed by Brigg Scientific and simply registered your details with us, then we will keep your data for 2 years.

Is THE personal data we hold incorrect?

Under the regulations, you are able to check any information we have about you that you think is wrong or incomplete. Please contact us if you have concerns regarding this. We will take reasonable steps to check its accuracy and correct it.

IF you want us to stop using your personal data

You can ask us to delete, remove, or stop using your personal data if there is no need for us to keep it. This is  the ‘right to object’ and ‘right to erasure’, or the ‘right to be forgotten’.

In some cases, there will be legitimate, legal, or other official reason for us to keep your data, but please tell us if you think that we should not be using it.


IF you want to withdraw your consent

You can withdraw your consent for us to use your data at any time. If this is the case, you can do this by:

  • Going onto our website, selecting the "Privacy Form" link, entering your details, ticking the “No” boxes and submitting the form.
